Ericka Austin

Ericka Austin, MBA, currently serves as the Executive Director of Leadership Academies at Houston Independent School District (HISD) since July 2014, where the focus is on cultivating effective education leaders by supporting 400 educators across various leadership programs. Previously, Ericka held the role of Director of Principal Academy, pioneering a principal-pipeline development initiative and leading the professional development of 80 Principal Apprentices. Recognition includes being named HISD “Achieve 180” New Principal of the Year in 2020, achieving substantial improvements in student performance and campus culture. Earlier experience includes impactful roles at Arlington ISD, Sylvan Learning, and the Mason Memorial Foundation, showcasing strong leadership and educational program development skills. Ericka earned an MBA from the University of Arkansas and a BS in Health Sciences from the University of Central Arkansas.
