Julia Buhmann

Julia Buhmann is a Senior AI Research Scientist at Exscientia since August 2021, with a rich background in AI and machine learning. Currently serving as a Visiting PhD Researcher at the Howard Hughes Medical Institute, Julia has successfully processed a 100 TB image dataset for synaptic partner predictions. Julia's academic journey includes a PhD from ETH Zürich, where the thesis focused on machine learning methods for large-scale electron microscopy data, alongside significant contributions to the Gunpowder library and teaching experience. Prior internships at Google involved machine learning applications in video and image analysis, supplemented by early research roles at Max Planck Institute for Medical Research and Bayer Pharmaceuticals. Julia holds a Master's degree in Biotechnology and has also studied at the University of Cambridge.
