Simon Buckingham Shum is a Professor of Learning Informatics and the Director of the Connected Intelligence Centre at the University of Technology Sydney, focusing on applied research and development in human-centered Learning Analytics and AI in education. Previous roles include Visiting Fellow at the University of Bristol, Professor and Associate Director at The Open University's Knowledge Media Institute, and Chair of Governors at Bushfield School, where Simon utilized expertise in learning technology to enhance educational practices. With a strong academic background, including a Ph.D. in Human-Computer Interaction from the University of York, Simon has contributed extensively to various initiatives in online learning and open social media for higher education.
