Lucas Kan has a diverse work experience spanning over several industries. Lucas started their career in 1994 as a Naval Combat System Operator in the Republic of Singapore Navy. Following their military service, they worked as an Applications Specialist at CSA Pte Ltd from 2002 to 2004. Lucas then joined ST Electronics (Info-Software Systems) Pte. Ltd. as a Software Engineer and worked there for a decade. In 2014, they became a Technical Account Manager at AccessData, providing technical support for forensic and cyber-defense software. In 2015, they became an Assistant Director at the Ministry of Home Affairs Singapore, managing cybersecurity operations. Lucas also briefly worked as a Staff Officer for Airside Safety & Security at ASHTREE INTERNATIONAL before taking on their current role as the Head of Cybersecurity Operations at HTX (Home Team Science & Technology Agency) since December 2019.
Lucas Kan has a Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering from Nanyang Technological University Singapore, obtained from 1997 to 2001. Lucas also has a Professional Diploma in Infocomm Security from the National University of Singapore, completed in 2007. In 2008 to 2009, Lucas pursued a Master's degree in Forensic Information Technology from the University of Portsmouth. In 2017 to 2018, they completed a Specialist Diploma in Cyber Security Management from Singapore Polytechnic. Additionally, Lucas holds certifications such as the Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) from (ISC)2, obtained in February 2014, and the Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) from Microsoft, earned in 2003. Lucas has also taken the SEC550: Active Defense, Offensive Countermeasures and Cyber Deception course offered by the SANS Institute in 2016.
