Sylvain Aubry

Sylvain Aubry serves as the Deputy Director of the Economic Justice and Rights Division at Human Rights Watch since January 2023. Concurrently, Sylvain is a Lecturer in international human rights law at Sciences Po, teaching courses on economic, social, and cultural rights as well as social justice in relation to climate change. Previously, Sylvain held the position of Director of Law and Policy at the Global Initiative for Economic, Social and Cultural Rights from June 2014 to March 2022, where responsibilities included managing public services and human rights programs, conducting research on inequalities and the climate crisis, and advocating at various international levels. Sylvain's extensive experience also includes roles as a Senior Research and Legal Advisor, Legal and Policy Officer, and Human Rights Consultant, alongside a strong academic background in international human rights law, with degrees from the University of Essex and Sciences Po Aix.
