Heather Maher

Heather Maher is a seasoned communications professional with over 15 years of experience in journalism and external communications across various high-profile organizations. Currently serving as a Senior Writer/Editor at The Humane Society of the United States since February 2018, Heather creates impactful content aimed at high-worth donors and foundations. Previous roles include Head of Communications and Media at the Embassy of Afghanistan, where public relations strategies and major media publications were developed. Heather has also held senior editorial positions at Media Matters for America, Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty, and other prominent media outlets. An alumnus of the University of Iowa, Heather holds a Bachelor of Arts in History and Journalism, complemented by a minor in French.
