Lafayette Melton has extensive experience in human resources and diversity program management. Starting in 2007, they worked at the Federal Highway Administration in various roles, including Lead Human Resource Specialist and Diversity Program Manager. Lafayette was responsible for developing and implementing diversity strategies, workforce metrics, and leadership development programs. In 2021, Lafayette became the Senior Director of Talent Acquisition and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at The Humane Society of the United States, where they lead a team in designing and implementing strategies to attract top talent and promote a culture of inclusivity and belonging. Prior to this, they also held roles in event coordination, program management, and marketing.
Lafayette Melton holds a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Goucher College (2001-2003) and a Master of Arts in Organizational Communications from Bowie State University (2005-2008). Prior to these degrees, Lafayette attended Susquehanna University (1999-2001) and the University of Maryland (1998-1999). Lafayette also obtained a Diversity and Inclusion Certificate from Cornell University in 2020.
