Kristen Johnson is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in education and interpretation. Currently serving as a History Instructor at Diana Waring -- History Revealed and a History Teacher at Spectrum Christian Tutorial since 2021 and 2018 respectively, Kristen also has a strong background in interpretation, working as a Video Relay Interpreter for Sorenson Communications, a Contract Interpreter for Humanim, and previously as a Sign Language Interpreter for Jon Barad & Associates and Birnbaum Interpreting Services. Additionally, Kristen contributed as a Children's Curriculum Specialist at Bridgeway Community Church and has experience as a Homeschool Mom. Kristen holds a Bachelor's degree in American Sign Language from Gardner-Webb University, awarded in 1997.

Our mission is to support and empower individuals who face social or economic challenges — by building pathways to economic equity, opportunity, and independence. With a staff of over 300, Humanim provides services to over 4,000 individuals a year. Humanim has a 50 year history of supporting and economically empowering individuals. We do this through 35+ programs in the areas of human services, youth services, workforce development, and social enterprise throughout Maryland. Our organization was founded on the belief that every human being has potential and that work is transformative, with the goal of creating economic equity for individuals with disabilities and socio-economic challenges.
