Mikko Heinonen

Mikko Heinonen is a seasoned GIS Operations Analyst currently at ICEYE since January 2022, previously holding the position of Senior Operations GIS Analyst. Prior experience includes serving as a Project Manager at the Fire and Rescue Department of Lapland from September 2019 to December 2020, where Mikko led a project focused on flood prevention in significant risk areas across six municipalities, collaborating with various organizations. Earlier roles as a GIS Analyst at the Centre for Economic Development, Transport and the Environment involved conducting flood risk assessments and enhancing flood anticipation procedures. Mikko began a career in geography and cartography while working as a postal worker at Itella Oyj from 2007 to 2013. Educationally, Mikko holds a Master of Science degree in Geographic Information Science and Cartography, as well as Environmental Studies from the University of Eastern Finland, and completed the Finnish Matriculation Examination focused on Geography and Cartography at Tampereen Lyseon Lukio.
