Kent McCarthy is an accomplished Engineering Project Leader at Idaho Power Company, a position held since June 1997, where responsibilities include the research, development, and deployment of projects focused on smart grid technologies and voltage control. Prior experience includes serving as a Staff Engineer at Idaho National Laboratory, conducting power system analysis for defense and energy facilities, and leading the power engineering efforts for the CyberTran project. Additionally, Kent has a military background, having served as a Lieutenant Junior Grade in the US Navy Reserve and in various engineering roles in both the US Navy and Power Engineers Inc. Kent earned a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Idaho and previously studied Pre-Engineering at Boise State University.
