Lorena Rodríguez Chandler, MPH has extensive work experience in the healthcare industry. Lorena currently holds the position of Vice President and Chief Health Equity Officer at IEHP. Prior to this, Lorena worked at Blue Shield of California, where they served as the Director of Medicare Growth Strategy. In this role, they developed strategic business plans to establish Blue Shield as a leader in the Medicare Advantage segment. Lorena also led cross-functional teams and conducted consumer research to gain insights and improve the company's competitive advantage.
Before joining Blue Shield, Lorena worked at Blue Shield of California - Promise Health Plan as the Associate Vice-President of Strategic Planning & Performance. Lorena played a vital role in stabilizing operations after the integration of Care 1st Health Plan into Blue Shield of CA. In this position, Lorena led the creation of the annual strategic plan and provided thought leadership to promote long-term growth objectives.
Lorena's previous experience includes roles at Molina Healthcare and L.A. Care Health Plan. At Molina Healthcare, they served as the Associate Vice President, leading business process improvement initiatives and incorporating Lean Six Sigma analysis techniques. At L.A. Care Health Plan, Lorena was the Manager of Consumer Engagement & Strategy, where they developed and implemented innovative retail-based engagement locations to improve enrollment, education, and health disparities in Los Angeles County.
Lorena's career also includes working at UnidosUS (formerly National Council of La Raza) as an Assistant Director, managing community health worker programs targeting health disparities in the Latino community. Lorena provided technical assistance to community-based organizations and represented NCLR at national functions and conferences. Prior to that, Lorena worked at United Healthcare (formerly PacifiCare Health Systems) as a Senior Project Manager, where they supported medical claims management and implemented process improvements.
Overall, Lorena has a diverse background in strategic planning, business development, process improvement, and community engagement within the healthcare industry. Lorena'sexpertise in health equity and their leadership roles make their a valuable asset to any organization.
Lorena Rodríguez Chandler, MPH, holds a Master's degree in Community Health Sciences from the UCLA Fielding School of Public Health. Lorena also obtained a Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration from California State University, Long Beach. In addition to their academic qualifications, Lorena has acquired several certifications, including a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt in Healthcare from the Management and Strategy Institute in 2016 and a Certificate in Gerontology from California State University, Long Beach in 2014. Recently, they completed the Management Accelerator as part of the Hispanic & Latino Leadership Academy, offered by McKinsey & Company in 2022.
