iGEM Competition
Joshua Lopez has an impressive background in research and education. Currently, Joshua is the Experimental Design Team Lead at the iGEM Competition, where Joshua leads the Wet Let team. Joshua is also involved in various research projects at Duke University, UNC Biology Department, and UNC-CH Chemistry. Joshua has a strong passion for education, as seen from their work as a Camp Instructor at St. Gabriel Mercy Center and as an Ambassador at the Academic Success Program. Additionally, Joshua has experience in the field of nutrition as a Nutrition Intern at DELTA HEALTH CENTER INC. Joshua holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and Biology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

The iGEM Competition is an annual, world wide, synthetic biology event aimed at university, high school and graduate students. Multidisciplinary teams work all summer long to build genetically engineered systems using standard biological parts called BioBricks. iGEM teams work inside and outside the lab, creating sophisticated projects that strive to create a positive contribution to their communities and the world.
