Michael Mitchell

Michael Mitchell serves as the VP and Chief Information Security Officer at Illumina since July 2020, overseeing information security architecture, engineering, operations, and governance for a leading company in genetic sequencing. Prior to Illumina, Mitchell held the same position at HireRight, where the global information security program was managed to protect data and technology assets. Additional experience includes serving as Information Security Risk Officer at PayPal, accountable for enterprise risk management, and a range of executive roles at American Express focused on global information security, compliance, and risk management. Michael Mitchell holds an MBA in International Business from Western International University and a B.S. in Finance from the University of Colorado Denver.
