Peggy Valcke

Peggy Valcke has a diverse work experience in various roles and organizations. Currently, they serve as an Executive Board Member at BIPT-IBPT, the federal regulatory body in Belgium. In this position, they manage and supervises the Legal Department, HR, and network security.

Additionally, they have held positions at KU Leuven, including Vice Dean Research and Full Professor in Law since 2004. Peggy has also worked as a Principal Investigator at imec since 2004.

Furthermore, Peggy Valcke has been actively involved in the academic community, serving as an academic supervisor at Leuven Law Incubator "IusStart" and as a part-time Professor and member of the Scientific Committee Centre for Media Pluralism & Media Freedom at the European University Institute.

Peggy has also contributed to various journals as a member of the Editorial Board for the Journal of Media Law, Computer Law and Security Review, and Revue du Droit des Technologies et de l'Information.

Their career started at KU Leuven Center for IT & IP Law (CiTiP) as a Legal Researcher and a member of the Board of Directors in 1996.

In addition to their current role at BIPT-IBPT, Peggy Valcke has held positions such as a Member of the General Chamber at Vlaamse Regulator voor de Media - VRM until December 2023.

Peggy Valcke holds a PhD in Law from KU Leuven, which they obtained in 2003. In 2005, they completed a Postgraduate Diploma in EC Competition Law at King's College London. Their previous education includes a Master's degree in Law from KU Leuven, which they earned from 1993 to 1996, and a Bachelor's degree in Law from KU Leuven, which they obtained from 1991 to 1993.
