Aimee Carter

She is the Vice President of AARP International since March 2018, with primary responsibility for positioning AARP as a global thought leader in aging, developing and executing AARP International’s strategy, serving as a principal international spokesperson for AARP, and leading international programmatic, policy, and operational activities.

Previously, Ms. Carter was Managing Director of Corporate Affairs for the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) where she developed and executed strategies for corporate membership and business development, and led a team focused on business relationships and involving the private sector in foreign policy discussions. Prior to CFR, she led Booz Allen Hamilton’s $20 million emerging market business environment analysis unit, and served as contract manager for a $2.4 billion USAID business environment analysis contract. She managed teams analyzing the business environments and recommending policy changes in Poland, Romania, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Croatia, Serbia, Indonesia, Vietnam, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Honduras, and El Salvador. She also worked on commercial environment project in Croatia, a customs project in Albania, and an Internet strategy project in Mali. At BearingPoint, she briefly managed a team supporting the State Department’s role in the interagency Iraq policy process.

At CSIS, Ms. Carter assisted in managing development operations, and served as an analyst for the U.S.-EU-Poland Action Commission chaired by Zbigniew Brzezinski. Earlier, she was a project assist at Shaw, Pittman, Potts & Trowbridge (now Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman). She holds an M.A. in International Relations from Boston University, and a B.A. from the University of Virginia.
