Nynke Koopmans is an experienced healthcare and self-defense professional currently serving as an Authorized Active Shooter Response Instructor at AVERT and a Self Defense Instructor at IMPACT Bay Area, where emphasis is placed on trauma-informed self-defense techniques. Since February 2020, Nynke has worked as a Registered Nurse Inpatient Case Manager at a hospital, and has also held various nursing roles, including RN ACO Complex Case Manager at Santa Clara County Independent Physicians Association and Registered Nurse Case Manager at Catholic Charities USA. In addition, Nynke has been involved in martial arts as a Second Degree Black Belt Self Defense and Martial Arts Instructor and as a board member at HAND TO HAND KAJUKENBO SELF-DEFENSE CENTER. Other experience includes real estate acquisitions at Artemis Investments LLC and leading nursing efforts during a medical emergency aboard an Air Canada flight. Nynke is also the owner and designer of the Beyax Eco-Village Land Preservation Project. Educational credentials include degrees from Samuel Merritt University and NCP College of Nursing.

IMPACT Bay Area is a 501c3 nonprofit organization that teaches violence prevention programs like effective boundary setting, and empowerment self-defense. Our classes are trauma-informed and tailored to meet the needs of people of different ages, genders, and identities. We offer classes for communities most impacted by violence like women, girls, people of color, LGBTQ etc.
