Richard Hopkins is an experienced RF Engineer currently working at In-Space Missions Limited since August 2021. Prior to this role, Richard held positions at Airbus Defence and Space from 2014 to August 2021, including Principal Engineer, Engineering Manager, and Avionics Engineer, where responsibilities encompassed RF systems design, technical supplier management, and leadership in instrument concept design for various projects such as the MetOp Second Generation MWS radiometer instrument. Richard also worked at Astrium from 2008 to 2014 as Principal Engineer on ESA telecommunications payloads and began a career in the UK defence industry as an RF Design Engineer from 2000 to 2005, focusing on radio equipment design. Richard holds an MEng in Electronic Engineering from Imperial College London and a PhD in Microwave Electronic Engineering from the University of Surrey.

Founded in 2015, In-Space Missions is based in dedicated offices in Alton, Hampshire in the UK with purpose built, satellite cleanrooms. We design manufacture, integrate and test a range of satellites from 1U cubesats up to 150kg small satellites, providing full end-to-end capabilities to customers including payload development support; integration of payloads into the spacecraft; system testing; licensing; launch; commissioning; on-orbit operations; secure data delivery; and everything in-between.
