Dirk Inze

Dirk brings his expertise in the development of novel solutions to major crop production challenges. He is a Principal Investigator and Science Director at VIB, a life sciences research institute based in Belgium. His research aims to understand plant growth and his lab takes a systems biology approach to explore the mechanisms of leaf growth in Arabidopsis and maize – these discoveries have been applied to improve crop productivity and crop response to the environment. His scientific accomplishments have received several honors including the World Agriculture Prize in 2017 and the Körber Stiftung Prize.
