Sean Farney

Advisory Board Member at Infrastructure Masons

Sean built and managed Microsoft’s 120MW Chicago Data Center, deploying IT compute in Containers for the first time at commercial scale. He led operations for low-latency, high-frequency trading managed services Start-Up, 7ticks, acquired by Silver Lake Partners and now part of Intercontinental Exchange. As founder of Ubiquity Critical Environments, a first-mover edge data center company, he created a quickly deployable, sub-1MW, product available in 50 Tier 2/3 MSAs. Before joining JLL, Sean launched the Kohler Data Centers brand, defining the go-to-market strategy, executing segment-focused digital & social marketing tactics, and evangelizing the full ecosystem of data center products. He now helps JLL clients by fully leveraging the firm’s full portfolio of digital infrastructure capabilities- from site selection to sustainability. He holds a Master’s degree in Information Technology from Northwestern University and received his Bachelor’s degree from Miami University. He shares his passion for learning and research as an adjunct instructor teaching graduate students about IT infrastructure at Northwestern’s McCormick School of engineering.
