Prior to that, they pursued a Master's Degree in Modern German women's history and European colonialism from the University of Toronto, School of Graduate Studies, which they completed from 2001 to 2002. Their undergraduate studies were at the University of Toronto, Victoria College, where they obtained a Bachelor's Degree with High Distinction in Honours B.A., specializing in History and Political Science, from 1997 to 2001. Additionally, they are a member in good standing of the Law Society of Ontario since 2006. Bernadette also holds an Osgoode Certificate in Public Procurement and Practice, but the year of obtaining this certification is not specified.
