Alondra Nelson

Alondra Nelson is a distinguished academic and leader currently serving as the Harold F. Linder Professor at the Institute for Advanced Study since July 2019. In addition, Nelson holds the title of Distinguished Senior Fellow at the Center for American Progress and serves on the Board of Directors for The Brotherhood Sister Sol, the Innocence Project, and Mozilla. Nelson is also involved with the International Panel on the Information Environment as a member of the Scientific Panel on Global Standards for AI Audits and is part of the High-Level Advisory Board on Artificial Intelligence for the United Nations. Recognized as a Life Member of the Council on Foreign Relations and a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, Nelson is a member of the American Academy of Arts & Sciences. The educational background includes a PhD and an MPhil in American Studies from New York University, as well as a BA in Anthropology, graduating magna cum laude with High Honors from the University of California.

The Innocence Project is a non-profit legal clinic affiliated with the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law at Yeshiva University and created by Barry C. Scheck and Peter J. Neufeld in 1992. The project is a national litigation and public policy organization dedicated to exonerating wrongfully convicted people through DNA testing and reforming the criminal justice system to prevent future injustice.
