Christina Swarns is the Executive Director at Innocence Project since September 2020. Prior to that, Christina served as the Attorney-in-Charge at the Office of the Appellate Defender from August 2017 to August 2020. With a background in criminal justice advocacy, Christina has also held roles such as Litigation Director at NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund, Inc. and Supervising Assistant Federal Defender at Capital Habeas Unit, Philadelphia Federal Defender. Christina is a graduate of University of Pennsylvania Carey Law School and Howard University.

The Innocence Project is a non-profit legal clinic affiliated with the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law at Yeshiva University and created by Barry C. Scheck and Peter J. Neufeld in 1992. The project is a national litigation and public policy organization dedicated to exonerating wrongfully convicted people through DNA testing and reforming the criminal justice system to prevent future injustice.
