S. Mitra Kalita

S. Mitra Kalita is an accomplished media executive currently serving as CEO and co-founder of URL Media Holdings Inc., a multi-platform network dedicated to empowering Black and Brown communities. In addition, Kalita leads Kalita Mukul Creative Inc. as CEO and Publisher, where niche newsletters provide essential information for New Yorkers during the pandemic and support families navigating education challenges. Previously, Kalita held prominent roles at CNN as Senior Vice President overseeing national news and at the Los Angeles Times as Managing Editor, directing editorial strategy. Kalita's background also includes positions at Quartz, Atlantic Media Company, The Wall Street Journal, and Mint, with expertise in digital media, newsroom transformation, and leadership focused on diversity, equity, and inclusion. Academic credentials include an MS in Journalism from Columbia University and a BA in History/Journalism from Rutgers University.
