Yesika Laplaza Miras

Yesika Laplaza Miras has a diverse work experience in the field of computational linguistics and data science. Yesika started their career as a Linguist at Verbio in 2003 and continued working in the same role until 2004. Yesika then joined Verbio again in 2005 as a Linguist and stayed for a year. In 2006, they worked as a Linguist at Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya until 2007.

From 2007 to 2011, Yesika worked as a Computational Linguist at Fundacio Barcelona Media. In this role, they gained valuable experience in the field. Yesika then joined Universitat Pompeu Fabra - UPF in 2011 and worked as a Computational Linguist for a few months.

In 2012, Yesika collaborated in the Glissando Project at Universitat Pompeu Fabra and focused on reviewing acoustic databases in Castilian and Catalan. Yesika continued working on the Glissando Project in 2014, this time working as a Computational Linguist. Yesika analyzed intonation patterns of paralinguistic elements of a spoken corpus and developed automated tools for corpus analysis during their time at UPF.

From 2014 to 2016, Yesika worked as a Data Scientist at sisu labs, where they further expanded their knowledge and skills in data science. Yesika then joined Insikt Intelligence in 2016 as a Data Scientist, where they continue to work.

Yesika Laplaza Miras completed a Bachelor's degree in Spanish Philology from Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona between 2000 and 2005. Yesika then pursued a Master's degree in linguistics and technology applications specializing in computational linguistics from Universitat Pompeu Fabra from 2006 to 2007. Afterwards, they continued their education at Universitat Pompeu Fabra and obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Linguistic and Multilingual Mediation with a specialization in Computational Linguistics from 2007 to 2013.
