Vadim Shapiro has been working in the field of computer science since 1983. Vadim began their career as a Staff Research Engineer at General Motors Research in 1983. In 1994, they became the Bernard A. & Frances M. Weideman Professor at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. In 1999, they founded and became the CTO of Intact Solutions, Inc., providing ultimate interoperability in 3D simulation. In 2011, they became the Editor in Chief of Computer-Aided Design at Elsevier. Most recently, in 2015, they became a Distinguished Research Fellow at ICSI - International Computer Science Institute.
Vadim Shapiro obtained their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Mechanical Engineering from Cornell University in 1991. Vadim also obtained a Master of Science (MS) in Mechanical Engineering from Cornell University. Vadim obtained an M.S. in Computer Science from the University of California, Los Angeles and a BA in Mathematics and Computer Science from New York University.
