Winston Mason has a diverse work experience that spans across multiple companies and industries. Winston started their career as an Accountant at Xpert Decision System, where they were responsible for maintaining the accounting system, managing debtors and creditors, and preparing monthly audit files and management accounts. Winston successfully brought the accounting function in-house during their tenure.
Following this, Winston worked as a Financial Manager at Electrowave Cape (Pty) Ltd, where they provided support services to the oil and gas, naval, and related industries. Winston experienced a corporate buyout by Savcio Holdings and later another buyout by ACTOM Holding, which led to the merger with Hydron Hydraulics. During this time, their role evolved to include operational financial management, decision-making power, and setting up the business from scratch.
Winston then joined Electrowave Cape & Hydron Hydraulics, divisions of ACTOM Energy, as a Financial Manager. In addition to providing financial perspectives on operations, they also had to handle contract management and liaise with various stakeholders.
After that, Winston worked as a Financial Manager at Microchem Lab Services, a laboratory company that offers food testing and related services to the food and beverage and pharmaceutical industries. Their responsibilities included overall reporting, analysis, and advisement of the business and its related entities.
Most recently, Winston served as the Head of Finance and later as the Head of Financial Forecasting and Analytics at Intelligent Debt Management. In these roles, they were responsible for financial forecasting, analytics, and managing the finance department.
Throughout their career, Winston has demonstrated strong financial management skills and a track record of taking on increasing levels of responsibility in different organizations.
Winston Mason, ACMA, CGMA, has a comprehensive education history that showcases their expertise in management accounting, finance, and financial management services. Winston began their academic journey at Jan van Riebeeck High School, where they earned their High School Diploma in 2001. Winston then pursued their Bachelor of Commerce (BCom) degree at the University of South Africa/Universiteit van Suid-Afrika from 2003 to 2005, with a specialization in Financial Management. Building on this foundation, they went on to complete a Bachelor of Commerce (BCom) (Honours) degree in Finance and Financial Management Services from 2008 to 2011, also at the University of South Africa/Universiteit van Suid-Afrika. Finally, Winston attained the distinguished designation of Associate Chartered Management Accountant (ACMA) from the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants, where they focused on Management Accounting & Finance from 2012 to 2015. This diverse educational background underscores Winston's commitment to continuous learning and preparation for the dynamic field of finance and management accounting.
