Carlos Miguel Alvarez is an accomplished economist with extensive experience in economic development and policy analysis. Currently serving as an Economist at the Inter-American Development Bank since April 2021, Carlos leads various reports and technical projects focused on enhancing fiscal frameworks and economic data in the Andean Region. Prior to this role, Carlos was the Head of Economics and Energy Policy at the Foreign Commonwealth Office, where significant contributions were made during Venezuela's economic crisis. Carlos held the position of Senior Economist at Ecoanalítica, leading the Research Department and producing numerous economic reports. Additionally, Carlos has experience in academia as an Adjunct Professor of Econometrics and has worked in consultancy for major Venezuelan firms such as Banesco Banco Universal and Empresas Polar. Educational credentials include an MSc in Economics and Finance from Universitat Pompeu Fabra and a BSc in Economics from UCAB.
