Adem Kassie Abebe

Adem Kassie Abebe is an accomplished expert in constitutional governance, peace building, and democracy, currently serving as a Senior Advisor at International IDEA since February 2016. In this role, Adem leads projects focusing on constitutional design and democratic transitions, particularly in conflict-affected regions of Africa. Additionally, Adem contributes as a board member of the Ethiopian Professionals Network in the Netherlands. Prior to the current position, Adem held various roles, including Senior Research Fellow at the Max Planck Foundation, where projects centered on legal reform and constitutional processes in Somalia and South Sudan were implemented. Adem's academic background includes a Doctor of Laws degree from the University of Pretoria, with significant research and teaching experience in human rights and constitutional law across multiple esteemed institutions.
