Simone Maciel Cuiabano is a seasoned economist with extensive experience in both public service and international organizations. Currently serving as a Senior Economist at the International Monetary Fund since November 2022, Simone has been an auditor of finance at the Brazilian National Treasury since April 2007. Previous roles include Senior Country Economist at the African Development Bank Group, where responsibilities included office representation in Guinea Bissau, and as Coordenadora-Geral de Interesse Publico at the Brazilian Ministry of Economy, overseeing public interest processes. Additional experience encompasses positions as Deputy Chief Economist at the Brazilian Council of Economic Defense, Deputy Coordinator of Macroeconomic Analysis, and various internships and fellowships, including at prestigious institutions such as Harvard and Toulouse School of Economics. Simone holds a PhD in Economics from Universidade de Brasília and has completed executive education programs at Harvard Kennedy School.
