Andrea Sweeney is an experienced advocate with a strong focus on humanitarian policy and child rights. Currently serving as UN Advocacy Director at the International Rescue Committee since June 2021, Andrea has held multiple roles within the organization, including Acting Director for MENA Policy, Advocacy, and Communications, as well as Associate Director for Humanitarian Policy and Advocacy. Prior to this, Andrea worked with Save the Children International and Save the Children UK, developing integrated advocacy strategies for child refugees and families in poverty. Additional experience includes strategic communications roles at PLMR and project assistance at the Tikari Eco-Agricultural Development Organisation. Andrea holds an MSc in Gender, Development and Globalisation from The London School of Economics and a BA in Politics from the University of Leeds, along with experience studying Political Science at The George Washington University.
