Mariangel (Angie) Garcia, PhD, serves as the Research Group Lead for Water Futures Data and Analytics at the International Water Management Institute (IWMI), where responsibilities include developing future-focused data strategies to address water scarcity and integrating ethical digital data analytics strategies, including AI. Previously, Angie worked at IBM as a Senior Data Scientist, transforming client data into actionable business insights, and held several consulting roles that involved designing AI-driven business intelligence solutions. An accomplished researcher, Angie has a rich background in hydrodynamic modeling and was a Postdoctoral Research Associate at San Diego State University, contributing to various coastal ocean modeling projects. Angie holds dual PhDs in Computational Mathematics and Computational Science, and has significant experience in teaching and consulting throughout a robust academic and professional career.
