IntersectLA
IntersectLA (IXLA) is an interdisciplinary team of motivated CSUN students developing strategic experiences that elevate businesses, organizations, and communities through creative collaboration and design. The intersection of design, culture, communication and education has been deeply rooted and instilled in our mission since the on-campus academic center was established in 2007 as VISCOM. Then in late 2018, we merged our creative operations with the student marketing and strategy group RADIUS to create IntersectLA (IXLA). Now as we enter the next decade, with industries shaped by new technologies, ideas, and mediums, IntersectLA seeks to mentor students who can research, strategize, collaborate, and create in multidisciplinary roles. Located on the California State University, Northridge (CSUN) campus in north Los Angeles, the center was created in response to the unmet needs of our diverse student population, consisting mostly of minorities and first-generation students. The intent was to disrupt the often-simulated classroom environments and departmental silos and leverage the diverse student population to learn and work collaboratively. The result is a high-impact student enterprise that incubates talent, builds confidence, instills a sense of purpose, and provides financial resources to help students succeed, while in school and beyond.
