Matthew Byard has extensive experience in physiotherapy, having worked at Ipswich Town FC since November 1996, where roles have included Head of Medical, Head Physiotherapist, First Team Physiotherapist, Academy Physiotherapist, and Match Day Physiotherapist. Prior to this, Matthew served as a Junior Physiotherapist at Addenbrooke’s Hospital from June 1997 to May 1998, focusing on neurosurgery, orthopaedics, and outpatient care, and briefly at The Ipswich Hospital NHS Trust in May 1998, providing care for the elderly. Matthew holds a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Physiotherapy from the University of Hertfordshire, obtained between 1994 and 1997.

Ipswich Town Football Club, founded in 1878, boasts the most successful history of any club in eastern England. Most notably, the Club has won three major trophies (English Division 1 Title in 1962, FA Cup in 1978, UEFA Cup in 1981) under the guidance of managers Sir Alf Ramsey and Sir Bobby Robson. The official Club lottery schemes generate funds for the Academy and youth player development, too.
