Catherine Hughes

Catherine Hughes is a seasoned IT professional with extensive experience in technology management and strategic project delivery. Currently serving as Chief Information Officer at the Irish Blood Transfusion Service since March 2022, Catherine previously held various senior roles at Version 1, including Head of Strategic Projects, Head of Business Systems, and Head of Capabilities, where significant contributions were made in service management platforms, internal application strategies, and staff development. Earlier career roles include ICT Manager at the Citizens Information Board and IT Consultant positions at CMG and Oniva, along with foundational roles as an IT Analyst at Exxonmobil and Esso UK. Catherine holds a Master’s Degree in Management of Information Systems and a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, both from Trinity College Dublin.
