Michael Fortini has worked in various roles within the energy industry. Michael started their career at Essex Powerlines Corporation, where they worked in Regulatory Affairs from 2000 to 2002. Michael then joined NYISO as a Settlements Specialist from 2002 to 2004. After that, they worked at DTE Energy, where they held multiple roles including Senior Controller, Supervisor Merchant Operations, and Senior Power Originator from 2004 to 2022. Most recently, they joined ITC Holdings Corp. as the Director of Customer & Business Solutions in 2022.

Michael Fortini received their undergraduate education from the University of Windsor, where they obtained an Honors B. Commerce degree in Accounting from 1996 to 2000. Michael later pursued further education at Lawrence Technological University, earning an MBA in Information Systems from 2002 to 2003. In addition to their academic qualifications, they also obtained certifications such as the PJM System Operator - Generation from PJM Interconnection in November 2019, and the NERC Certified Operator from the North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) in June 2005.
