J. Craig Venter Institute
Jannelle Lauffer has a strong background in scientific research and engineering. Jannelle most recently worked as a Visiting Scientist at the J. Craig Venter Institute beginning in February 2023. Prior to that, they held positions at Avery Digital as an Associate Scientist, starting in October 2022.
Before their time at Avery Digital, Jannelle worked at PacBio as an Engineer I, software test from July 2022 to September 2022, and as a Senior Research Associate from September 2021 to July 2022.
Jannelle has also held positions at Omniome Inc., where they worked as a Sr. Research Associate from March 2021 to September 2021, and as a Research Associate II from October 2017 to March 2021.
Jannelle's early career included a role as a Research Associate I at Roka Bio from June 2016 to September 2017.
Jannelle Lauffer attended Citrus College from 2008 to 2011, where they pursued a degree in General Studies. After completing their studies at Citrus College, they transferred to the University of California, Santa Cruz. At UC Santa Cruz, Jannelle studied Biochemistry and Molecular Biology with a minor in Chemistry, earning their Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in 2015.

The J. Craig Venter Institute was formed in October 2006 through the merger of several affiliated and legacy organizations — The Institute for Genomic Research (TIGR) and The Center for the Advancement of Genomics (TCAG), The J. Craig Venter Science Foundation, The Joint Technology Center, and the Institute for Biological Energy Alternatives (IBEA). Today all these organizations have become one large multidisciplinary genomic-focused organization.
