Bookkeeper

About the role:

The Bookkeeper role at Jabu is critical to the success of the organization. This person is responsible for maintaining the company's financial records and ensuring they are accurate and up-to-date. The Bookkeeper will work closely with the finance team to reconcile financial transactions, process and pay vendor bills, and prepare financial reports and budgets.

Responsibilities:

  • Record and reconcile financial transactions, including sales, purchases, and payments.
  • Sort and reconcile invoices to ensure that all vendor bills are accurate and up-to-date.
  • Process and pay vendor bills in a timely manner, ensuring that all suppliers are paid on time.
  • Maintain accurate financial records and reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
  • Reconcile bank statements and track expenses to ensure that the company's financial records are accurate and up-to-date.
  • Assist with the preparation of financial reports and budgets, including projected income statements and cash flow projections.
  • Maintain and load payroll on a monthly basis.
  • Stay up-to-date with current accounting practices and regulations, and ensure that the company is in compliance with all relevant laws and regulations.

Requirements:

  • Education: The ideal candidate should have a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
  • Experience: The candidate should have a minimum of 2-3 years of experience in bookkeeping or a related field. Candidates with experience in the B2B e-commerce industry will be highly preferred.
  • Technical Skills: The ideal candidate should be proficient in using accounting software, such as QuickBooks or Xero, and have experience in reconciling bank statements, processing vendor bills, and preparing financial reports.
  • Attention to detail: Bookkeeping requires meticulous attention to detail, and the ideal candidate should be able to accurately record and reconcile financial transactions.
  • Communication Skills: The candidate should be able to effectively communicate with internal teams and suppliers, and should be able to explain financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Problem-solving skills: The candidate should be able to identify and resolve any discrepancies in financial records, and should be able to effectively manage vendor relationships.
  • Time management: The ideal candidate should be able to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively to meet deadlines.
  • Adaptability: The candidate should be able to adapt to changes in accounting regulations and requirements, and be willing to continuously improve their skills and knowledge.
  • Ethical Conduct: The candidate should have a strong moral compass and maintain confidentiality and integrity in all financial transactions.
