Paul Flicek serves as the inaugural Chief Data Science Officer at The Jackson Laboratory since July 2023, where responsibilities include developing a comprehensive data science strategy to enhance the global biomedical community. Concurrently, Paul holds the position of Honorary Professor of Genomics and Computational Biology and Affiliated Lecturer in the Department of Genetics at the University of Cambridge. Previous roles include Associate Director and Team Leader at the European Bioinformatics Institute, Honorary Faculty Member at the Wellcome Sanger Institute, and Adjunct Senior Group Leader at the Cancer Research UK Cambridge Institute. Paul’s academic background encompasses a Doctor of Science in Bioengineering and Biomedical Engineering, and a Master of Science in Computer Science from Washington University in St. Louis, where a Bachelor of Science in Physics was also obtained.
