Francois Michel has a diverse work experience spanning various industries and roles. Francois is currently serving as the Chief Executive Officer at John Cockerill since 2022. Prior to this, Francois held leadership positions at Saint-Gobain, where they served as the CEO of Global Architectural Specialties (2020-2022) and CEO of Saint-Gobain Ceilings (2016-2020). Before joining Saint-Gobain, they worked at Saint-Gobain Ecophon AB as the President of the Ecophon Group (2015-2022) and Vice President (2014-2015). Francois also worked at Saint-Gobain as the Vice President of Corporate Planning and Strategy (2012-2014). Francois has prior experience as an Advisor in Public Finance at Présidence de la République (2009-2012), an Economist at the International Monetary Fund (2006-2009), and a Deputy Division Chief at Direction du Budget (2004-2006). Francois began their career as an Engineer at Alstom (2001-2003).
Francois Michel obtained an Engineer's degree from École Polytechnique from 1998 to 2001, followed by another Engineer's degree from Mines Paris from 2003 to 2004.
