Joint Allocation Office (JAO S.A.) is a service company that facilitates the electricity market by organizing auctions for cross border transmission capacity. Initially founded in 2008 as CASC-CWE, the company underwent a transformation through its merger with Central Allocation Office GmbH (CAO), resulting in the formation of JAO S.A. in 2015. Today, JAO S.A. has a workforce of 95 individuals and conducts over 20,000 auctions annually. It serves more than 50 Transmission System Operators (TSOs) and boasts over 470 registered market participants, with a net turnover of 33.8 billion euros.
