Job Summary

The Lead Superintendent is responsible for leading one or more project construction teams, directing and mentoring field on-site staff and for the overall management of project directions, planning, completion, and financial outcome. The position requires business management acumen and must demonstrate strong leadership, organizational and time management skills, as well as strong communication and team building skills.

Responsibilities

  • Develop comprehensive understanding of project strategy and commitments including financial goals, scheduling, logistics, phasing, milestones, and inspections.
  • Direct the day-to-day coordination of the JRM trade subcontractors and their sub-contractors to ensure that they deliver high-quality work that meets the project requirements, schedule and budget. Oversee all daily field operations to ensure proper site safety, progress, quality control and a clean site.
  • Manage the development, updating, modification (as required) and maintenance of the project schedule that meets the cost and time requirements of the project, including a master schedule, 60-day look ahead schedules for their assigned trades, and two-week look ahead schedules for the trades
  • Plan, coordinate and manage jobsite logistics, material delivery, shop drawings, etc.
  • Participate in all meeting required of the Lead Superintendent and fulfill all meeting responsibilities.
  • Prepare the daily construction reports in a thorough and timely manner.
  • Understand and ensure risk controls are properly established and maintained.
  • Establish and maintain a system of document control to assure work is being installed in accordance with the latest design documentation and approved shop drawings.
  • Communicate any issues requiring additional information from designers in a timely fashion to the project manager for issuance of RFI’s.
  • Assist in preparation of the monthly status report to be submitted to the client.
  • Assure monthly job progress photos are taken and accurately depict the progress of the work.
  • Assure the required permits and approvals from jurisdictional agencies are secured, posted, and renewed as required prior to starting work.
  • Work in partnership with project manager to identify and address issues of constructability or lack of scope during preconstruction phase.
  • Maintain and review punch list process to ensure all are addressed and executed in a timely manner.
  • Exceed client expectations for each project by understanding client needs, wants, and preferences.
  • Promote positive subcontractor relations by dealing professionally and fairly with all subcontractors and vendors instilling this philosophy in project team at all times.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Possess an Engineering, Construction Management, or related bachelor’s degree, or possess equivalent relevant experience.
  • At least 10 years of relevant experience.
  • Working knowledge of various construction disciplines, union agreements/jurisdiction, cost control, scheduling, safety regulations, engineering drawings and other documents required.
  • Ability to maintain effective and open dialogue with the project team.
  • 10-Hour OSHA and 30-Hour OSHA Construction Safety and Health Certificate.
  • 4-Hour Supported Scaffold User Certificate.

Computer Systems

  • Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook), and Procore.

Salary Information

  • To the extent this position is performed in New York City, the annual salary offered for this role is $150,000 - 225,000.

The referenced salary range is based on the Company's good faith belief at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location, work experience, market conditions, education/training, and skill level.
