Julian Charles is one of the hidden gems of the UK home furnishings sector. It started life in 1947 as a small Lancashire business and has grown into one of the country’s premier manufacturers of home textiles under the Rectella name, with Julian Charles as its retail brand. Today it has over 70 outlets right across the UK, from Clacton to Colne, Bideford to Banbridge and Llandudno to Livingston. Julian Charles operates 41 standalone stores, plus concessions in outlets such as Boundary Mill and leading garden centres. It has also invested significantly in its online platform, extending the ranges available as well as the delivery options. Around 25 per cent of products are sourced in the UK and the rest from established suppliers across the world. In June 2020, Julian Charles was acquired by SKG Capital Partners.
