Melanie K. Barnes is an experienced professional in playspace design and project management, currently serving as the Director of Playspace Design, Innovation, and Construction at KABOOM! since January 2022. Previously, Melanie held the role of Associate Director of Playspace Innovation, Design and Construction at KaBOOM! from September 2000 until September 2020. Additionally, Melanie contributed to AmeriCorps NCCC as a Service Learning Coordinator from 1998 to 2000 and served as a Corps Member and Team Leader from 1995 to 1997. Educational background includes graduation from Marian High School.

Over the last 23 years, we've built or improved 17,000+ playspaces, engaged more than 1.5 million community members and brought joy to over 11 million kids. As we look to the future, we'll continue our efforts to build collective action and community opportunity, spark hope and enable kids to reach their full potential. And we promise that we won't stop until we put an end to playspace inequity. For good.
