Valerie Gassend has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries. Valerie started their career as a Counselor at Association Altair from 1997 to 2000. In the year 2000, Valerie worked as an Aspirant at Groupement départemental de gendarmerie. Valerie then joined Hewlett-Packard as an intern in 2004.

Valerie's experience in the field of MEMS (Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems) began in 2003 when they worked as a Research Assistant at MIT. During their time at MIT, they developed MEMS printheads for printing organic materials in vapor form. Valerie designed microshutter-based printheads using electrostatic actuation, as well as Thermal Jet printheads with integrated heaters. Valerie also fabricated MEMS devices using various microfabrication techniques. Their research efforts continued at MIT as a Postdoctoral Associate in 2007.

In 2008, Valerie co-founded TJet Technologies (now known as Kateeva) to apply their PhD research on OLED display manufacturing. Valerie successfully transferred the MEMS fabrication process to two MEMS foundries and collaborated with them to enhance device performance and yield. Valerie held the role of Sr MEMS Engineer and co-founder until 2014 when they transitioned to the role of Staff Inkjet Print Engineer at Kateeva. In September 2020, they were promoted to the position of Senior Manager, Print Technology at the same company.

Valerie Gassend's education history includes a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Mathematics and Physics from Lycee Louis Le Grand, spanning from 1994 to 1999. Following this, they pursued further education at Ecole Polytechnique from 1999 to 2002, earning a Diplome d'ingenieur in Physics. Finally, Valerie completed their academic journey by obtaining a PhD degree in Materials from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, which was completed from 2002 to 2007.
