Derrick Townsend

Derrick Townsend has over two decades of experience in quality management and research and development processes within the food industry. Currently serving as Manager of Global R&D Business Processes & Systems at Kellanova since October 2023, Derrick is responsible for business processes and IT systems related to new ingredient and supplier approval. Previously, Derrick held various roles at Kellogg Company, including Manager of Global R&D Business Processes & Systems and Quality Ingredient Manager, where responsibilities involved overseeing ingredient quality and safety across North America. Derrick's background also includes tenures at Pfizer in quality operations and as a QC laboratory technician, as well as laboratory analysis at Country Fresh Inc. Derrick's educational qualifications include a Master's degree in Biology from Western Michigan University and two Bachelor's degrees in Biology from the University of Michigan-Flint and the University of Michigan. Additionally, Derrick has experience as an adjunct faculty member instructing biology and ecology at the University of Michigan-Flint.
