Sung Jae Chung

Sung Jae Chung is an experienced engineering manager at Kennametal, responsible for overseeing an engineering group dedicated to over 1,000 metal powder products for various applications, including aerospace, automotive, and medical fields. With a strong background in manufacturing and process optimization, Sung Jae has led a plant modernization project that improved production yields and reduced costs through collaboration with cross-functional teams and vendors. Previous roles include senior manufacturing engineer at Kennametal, where expertise in alloy powder atomization contributed to diverse applications, and post-doctoral associate at the University of Pittsburgh, focusing on patient-specific biodegradable scaffolds. Sung Jae's extensive research experience includes advancements in biodegradable metallic materials and nanoparticles, supported by a PhD in Materials Science and Engineering from the University of Pittsburgh and a Master's and Bachelor's degree in the same field from Hanyang University.
