Kivu International
Kivu International specialises in supporting locally-led policy change. We believe that well-designed and effectively implemented public policy increases prosperity and improves the lives of people in the world’s poorest countries. But for policy change to achieve real and lasting impact, it can’t be imposed from the outside – it must be developed, debated and owned locally. This is why Kivu International works with local institutions that seek to influence and strengthen policy in their own countries and help them bring about the change they want to see. Drawing on our significant first-hand experience of the policy-making world we use a model of “peer-to-peer” support to strengthen organisations and governments in the global south interested in influencing and improving public policy. Our work covers: • Strengthening think tanks and research institutes: We provide advice, support and mentoring to enable think tanks and research institutes to carry out policy-relevant research; advocate for policy change; and meet wider organisational challenges they face. • Improving policy-capacity in Government: We work with politicians and officials to support them achieve effective policy development and implementation in complex and politically-charged environments. • Political analysis and policy influence: We advise organisations on how to use politically-informed research and advocacy strategies to achieve lasting policy change.
