Joel Hilderman

Manager, Saskatoon & Geoenvironmental Engineer, Associate at KCB

Joel has been with KCB since 2002 and has experience in civil engineering investigations, analysis and design. He became an Associate in 2013 and is the manager of the Saskatoon office.

Joel’s geotechnical experience includes tailings design, dam inspections and condition assessments, slope stability analyses, seepage modelling, internal drain design, overburden characterizations, instrument installations and monitoring, lab testing, and data interpretation.

His hydrogeological experience includes the design of dewatering and depressurization systems, installation of monitoring and production wells, pumping tests and slug tests, and data interpretation.

Joel has developed 3D stratigraphic models for oil sands mines and has extensive experience in 2D seepage analyses, including contaminant transport analysis. He has applied the use of stable isotopes to model salt and water transport in mine waste covers, and is experienced in the design of surface water management features, including ditches, settling ponds and hydraulic structures.
