KMOV-TV
KMOV Channel 4 began broadcasting in St. Louis as KWK-TV on July 8, 1954. Four years later, CBS Inc. purchased the station and changed its call letters to KMOX-TV. On May 16, 1986, Viacom International, Inc., bought KWK-TV from CBS. Because CBS retained the KMOX call letters for the AM radio station it still owned locally, a change in the Channel 4 call letters was necessary. KMOX-TV became KMOV-TV. Belo Corp. acquired the station on June 1, 1997. On June 13, 2013, the Gannett Company announced that it would acquire Belo. On December 23, 2013, shortly after the Gannett/Belo deal was approved and completed, Meredith Corporation announced that it would purchase KMOV. In December 2021, Gray Television, Inc. purchased KMOV. KMOV-TV produces and airs News 4 This Morning 4:00 - 7a; News 4 at Noon, News 4 at 5:00, 6:00 and 10:00 and News 4 Weekends. Our morning lifestyle show, Great Day St. Louis airs from 9:00 - 10:00 on Channel 4. KMOV Digital has made significant strides across all multimedia platforms in this market. Content and advertising for various KMOV news, weather, and sports apps make up a large part of KMOV's revenue. KMOV - TV has won hundreds of regional Emmy awards, dozens of local and national Edward R. Murrow awards and other elite awards over the many years in broadcast news. In 2014, Channel 4 celebrated 60 years on the air with a 90-minute special looking back on significant events and personalities through the years.
