Alan Knight is an experienced Broadcast Engineer at KOAA-TV since February 1999. Knight has held various roles, including Public Relations Director for the Southern Colorado Astronomical Society from February 2011 to January 2019, where effective communication strategies were developed between the society and the public. As Director of Marketing and Promotions at I-25 Speedway from April 2006 to September 2010, Knight transformed an interest in video production into a professional venture, managing marketing strategies and advertising sales. Previous experience includes working as a Broadcast Engineer at KEYE-TV and serving in the U.S. Army from 1984 to 1996 in various leadership roles focused on communication technologies and infantry operations. Knight's educational background includes studies at New Mexico State University from 1992 to 1994.

KOAA5 is the local NBC affiliate, and news leader, in Southern Colorado. Colorado Springs is one of the fastest-growing cities in the country and is consistently ranked among the top 10 places to live. Our market area is BIG; covering over 30,000 square miles and 12 counties. KOAA5’s broadcast tower is located at the top of Cheyenne Mountain in Colorado Springs. The station’s signal reaches the borders of Kansas, Oklahoma and New Mexico. To the north the signal extends to the edge of El Paso County and Fremont County to the west. With over 1,000,000 local viewers, 3 out of 4 viewers tune in to KOAA5 each week. In 2014 the station invested in a new state of the art broadcast facility in Colorado Springs Tech Center. KOAA News5 continues to be the dominant #1 news provider in Southeast Colorado and delivers critical information to its primary broadcast channel, all digital media platforms, and a secondary broadcast channel called News5 Now. May 1, 2019 KOAA5 was acquired by the E.W. Scripps Company, adding Scripps owned networks GRIT and Court TV to 5.3 and 5.4.
